ABOUT

Our Fun, Friendly coaches all hold ASA/STA coaching qualifications with the Amateur Swimming Association (Swim England). All coaches have the relevant qualifications, DBS checks and training and insurance.

We are all members of The IOS (Institute of Swimming Teachers).

Flippers teaches children from 3 years old. Founded by Rebecca and Georgina in 2004, the Flippers vision has never changed "learn whist enjoying the water".

We also have teachers that specialise in confidence and separation issues in the water.

POOL

Flippers is a private swim school and not affiliated to a leisure centre. 

Our term course is held at the wonderful facilities of the LVS in Ascot, Berkshire.

The pool is 9 x 25 metres, with a depth of 1 metre up to 2 metres. It is heated up to 32 degrees.

We do not share our facilities on a Saturday afternoon.

The pool is located in the sports centre with on site parking and the entrance is off the London Road next to the Forresters Pub.

TIMETABLE

At this time we only offer lessons on a Saturday afternoon.

We have small group classes at Flippers with a maximum of 6 children per class for beginners through to improvers and a maximum of 8 children in the deep beginner and 10 in the intermediate classes. Each swimming lesson lasts for 30 minutes.

Classes are at 1.30pm, 2pm, 2.30pm, 3pm, 3.30pm, 4pm and 4.30pm.

The next term is 18th April to 11th July.

£150 per child per term.

  • We welcome children from 3 years old. Our lessons are tailored to each age group and ability, from water confidence for babies to stroke development for older children.

  • Our Fun, Friendly coaches all hold ASA/STA coaching qualifications with the Amateur Swimming Association.

  • We keep class sizes small to ensure every child gets plenty of attention. Ratios vary by age but are always designed to be safe, supportive, and effective for learning.

  • Your child will need:

    • A swimsuit

    • A towel

    • Goggles (optional but recommended)

    • For toddlers: a swim nappy

    We also recommend bringing a warm hoodie or onesie for after the lesson.

  • Flippers will provide all equipment for the lessons. This helps with the concentration of all children, noise levels on poolside and no parent/coach interruptions.

    Swimming hats are not essential and goggles are permitted, however, there will be lessons where goggles will not be used.

  • That’s completely normal. Our instructors are trained to help nervous swimmers build confidence at their own pace. We focus on fun, encouragement, and positive experiences—never pressure.

  • Most lessons last 30 minutes, which is the ideal length to keep children engaged while avoiding fatigue.

  • Parents do not enter the water with the children.

    For beginner classes, the coach is in the water with the children.

  • Parents are invited onto poolside on 2 designated weeks of the course (The first week of the course and the last week).

    The remainder of the time, we ask that parents watch from the floor to ceiling windows outside.
